Many people want a rug in the dining room and under the dining room table. It can add to the look of the room and manipulate the way you see the colors of the table based on what you use. There are some dining room area rug tips and considerations to be aware of to extend the life of the rug and properly care for it.
The proper sized dining room area rug.
Furniture Feet Pads
Two questions that are asked alot are, "What size of rug for the dining room is needed?" and, "What size rug fits under the table?"
If your rug is going to be off to the side, you are going to need it to be smaller because in general the table is the central focus in the room.
If the rug is going underneath the table, make sure that it's a least a foot larger in dimensions than the table. Properly center the table when you put it on the rug.
Tips to make the dining room area rug last longer.
Put a rug pad underneath. The weight of the table and chairs will put much more wear on the rug if no pad is there.
Consider getting disks or pads to put underneath the feet of the chairs. Some chairs have feet that put alot of stress into carpeting and rugs.
The rug pile is compacted, take a very soft brush and a spray bottle of water and gently use the combination of these to get the pile back into it's proper shape.
You might consider not leaving the chairs on the rug or at least moving them around from time to time to prevent the pile from being squished.
Be sure to remove the rug from under the table for proper cleaning and vacuuming. It's best to vacuum a rug both on top and bottom so the table will have to be moved sometimes.
