Recliners are a very fashionable piece of furniture to own these days and are turning up in bachelor pads as well as large family homes around the world in equal measure. A recliner is a large, over stuffed comfortable chair that may have a tilt-able backrest, a lift-up foot rest and may even have a built in rocking chair like motion. It makes a great piece of furniture that is as at home in the drawing room as it is in your bedroom or den. The recliner chair was once only bought by single men but now increasing numbers of women and families have discovered that it is one of the most comfortable and long wearing pieces of furniture that you can buy today.
As with most things in life, with recliner chairs you get what you pay for and you can buy a halfway decent one for as little as a few hundred dollars. But as soon as you get picky about the kind of upholstery and finish you want and the kind of added features, the prices can begin to climb. For a top of the line model with all the bells and whistles you can think of, you could end up forking out as much as a few thousand dollars. This isn't small money so there are some things that the potential buyer of a recliner chair should look out for.
Furniture Feet Pads
Cheaper recliner chairs normally cut costs by using low quality components like plastic fasteners and pressed board frames that reduce the price but also reduce the ability of the chair to stand up to punishment for very long. A well constructed recliner chair will stand up to punishment day in and day out for many years, even a decade if built with high quality components. A well constructed chair will cost a lot more than one that is made out of cheap components and manufacturers back these models with multi-year warranties. Look for one that has at least a three year warranty when you buy a recliner. Also the right fabric makes all the difference. Leather recliner chairs or ones upholstered in wool last much longer and wear much better than ones covered in vinyl, which may look like the real thing when new but age badly and are prone to cracks and tears. Keep this in mind when you venture out to buy your own recliner.
